Johanes Ranziroti of St Mary’s pleaded not guilty to rape charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Estere Chivasa.

Prosecutor Loveti Muringwa told the court that on December 5 last year at around 0830hrs, the 36-year-old woman from Glen View 7 was standing at a Beatrice compound bus stop looking for transport.

The court heard that the Ranziroti, who was riding his motorcycle, stopped and offered a lift to the complainant.

The complainant accepted the offer.

After travelling for about 1km, the accused person stopped the motorcycle ostensibly to urinate and ordered the complainant to close her eyes.

The court heard that after traveling another kilometre, Ranziroti stopped his motorcycle again and suddenly grabbed the complainant by the neck, dragging her into a nearby bush.

Ranziroti produced a kitchen knife from his pocket and pushed the complainant to the ground.

He then removed her clothes and raped her once.

After the act, Ranziroti wiped the complainant’s private parts with leaves and told her that he wanted to have sex with her one more time.

The complainant took to her heels, towards the road, crying for help as Ranziloti was cleaning himself.

A police report was made, leading to Ranziroti’s arrest.
