Zisca national secretary Oscar Mazhambe told our sister paper Southern Eye that they were targeting 40 coaches to take part in the programme.

“We are inviting all holders of Level One and Two certificates to book in advance for the Caf C course to avoid missing out,” Mazhambe said.

“The course fee is $350 and we have openings for 40 coaches on a first-come first-serve basis. So those that are interested should hurry up and register to avoid disappointment,” he said.

This development will be welcome news to local coaches that previously had to wait until they had done the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) Level Four course for them to be eligible for the continental course.

During his last visit to Zimbabwe to conduct the Cosafa Youth Coaching Course in December last year, Fifa technical development officer Govinden Thondoo took Zifa technical director Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe to task over why Level One and Two holders were not being allowed to take the Caf C course as the material offered is equivalent to the local beginners course.
