The new offering consists of mixed tunes of contemporary RnB and hip-hop and a couple of fusions which he aims to maintain. The name Chyllur (pronounced as Chiller) is not new to many in the local music arena as the singer shot to fame when he was part of the Major Playaz trio.

International standard videos and top-notch lyrics characterised the group’s music making them a household name in the early 2000s. The unprecedented silence after the release of the popular Came To Party video which made it to Channel O and MTV Base left fans begging for more to no avail.

Speaking to NewsDay, Chihava said he was back in adherence to calls from the fans to make a statement that the trend is far from over. “I am grateful that our music still has an impact even when we last released something in 2006. This solo project can be viewed as a continuation from where we left off and as a reassurance of existence to those who thought we were done,” he said.

Far From Over, produced by Nyararai Mazango of Blowhard records, is his first album as a solo artist since the departure of Richard and Thomas Marufu.

The upcoming producer’s long “break” enabled him to add music knowledge complimenting his natural talent. “When one wants to produce international standard music they have to be ready to learn more and that is what I have done in the time I was off the scene.

“Too much creativity is pushing me and I can release albums with many tracks like this one for the next 10 years,” said the lyricist as he pledged consistency.

Chyllur also hinted a Major Playaz reunion show when the Australian-based brothers visit the country later this year.
