Sibusisiwe Musariri of Unit N in Seke was convicted on her own plea of guilty to contravening the Children’s Act Chapter 5.06 when she appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Musaiona Shotgame.

The court heard that on dates not known to the prosecutor but sometime last year, Musariri stayed with the minor child for three weeks.

During that period, she assaulted the three-year-old girl all over her body on several occasions and regularly locked her in the house for messing her pants.

The court heard that the child sustained a swollen face, hands and her deep bruises all over her body as a result of the assaults. Concerned neighbours tipped off the police, leading to Musariri’s arrest.

Wilson Matsika prosecuted.
