The Next Level tour is an initiative of the United States Embassy Public Affairs section as a cultural exchange drive.

The group comprises JC the Beat Maker, Juan the DJ, Fury the Dancer and Kane the Emcee who will all be involved in different elements of the exchange programmes to be held Glen Norah, Mbare and the Book Cafe.

“They are coming from the University of California where they mainly carry out workshops and training programmes for students,” said Magamba Network Media Officer, Tafadzwa Sharaunga.

Sharaunga said they had also done work in Senegal recently where they hosted exchanges programmes which saw them engaging and collaborating with various Senegalese artistes.

Workshops in Harare will be held in Glen Norah, Mbare and the Book Café culminating in performance collaborations between the Americans and local artistes at the event dubbed Mashoko.

Local artistes billed to perform at the events include T Shoc, Synik and Charity Hutete who will feature at the Book Café on February 28. A Peace in the Hood Concert Music Freedom day special with acts such as Fly Legendz, Ocean 4 and NTM of Next Level will be held on the following day in Glen Norah.

“Locally there is lack of Deejaying skills so they are coming in to induce proper knowledge and expertise for the betterment of local talent,” added Sharaunga.

He also said that such initiatives were now a common phenomenon as they had hosted similar seminars in other cities like Bulawayo last year.Next Level Academy calls this benevolent outreach “Levantine public diplomacy” in which they seek to build a sphere in which diverse voices can be heard in spite of their various origins, distinct values and often contradictory interests.
