The event takes place at the University of Zimbabwe.

In a statement by the event organisers, registration costs $100 per organisation and closes on February 27.

“Companies or organisations are urged to register their peer educators to be part of this exciting package which will see three of their representatives per organisation being trained in basic playmaking skills by experts in a two-day course at the University of Zimbabwe or at the National Arts Council Harare Province Offices in Mt Pleasant on March 5 and 6,” read part of the statement.

“Getting one-on-one guidance during their play development processes back at their respective workplaces after the training having experts visiting the trained peer educators during their rehearsals to monitor and guide their preparations before the actual competitions.”

According to the statement, the trained peer educators stand a chance to walk away with prizes in the competitions.

The inaugural AWA PEERS were held on March 27 at Beit Hall, University of Zimbabwe with Kadoma Hotel and Conference Centre coming first followed by Rainbow Hotel and Conference Centre, while Holiday Inn Harare was third.

All the three received certificates and cash prizes.

There were also awards for best actor and actress who received certificates of merit on their outstanding performances.

The inaugural AWA PEERS saw seven companies being trained and five managed to participate.

The programme emanates from Tafadzwa Muzondo’s workplace theatre initiative that seeks to promote debate on sexual matters among peers and workmates.
