In handing down sentence last Friday, Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Never Katiyo described the acts as barbaric, adding that the two were a danger to society.

The court heard that on unknown dates between 2013 and 2014, the two men, both from Chief Chundu’s area in Hurungwe, separately raped the minor on several occasions each time the girl’s mother was doing piece jobs in the nearby farms.

They threatened to harm her if she spilled the beans, the court heard.

A medical report produced in court revealed that the girl was now HIV positive.
