Zupco and Pioneer bus companies have offered to transport relatives of the 27 people who died in the Murehwa bus disaster last month to the accident scene for a memorial service tomorrow.

The accident occurred on January 18 when buses from the two companies sideswiped each other at the 35km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda highway.
Mutoko East legislator Ricky Mawere told NewsDay yesterday that the two transport firms had offered one bus apiece for the occasion.
“The bus companies have agreed to release a bus each. I had to talk to them and highlighted the need to have their support as we are expecting a number of people for the memorial service. It is good that both Zupco and Pioneer have agreed to honour the victims in such a way,” Mawere said.
Efforts to contact the bus companies for confirmation were fruitless as their landlines went unanswered.
Mawere added: “We are having two services, and the buses will ferry people from Mutoko to the accident scene in Murewa before taking them back to All-Souls Mission. Various churches will take part as we try to cleanse the black spot.”
He said the interdenominational service would be led by Catholic priest Father Gabriel Mberi.
