THE Dynamos coaching job has attracted interest from within and outside the country with a number of foreign coaches having already submitted their applications in the hope of landing one of Zimbabwe’s hottest seats.

Club secretary-general Webster Chikengezha yesterday said they have already received an overwhelming response from coaches within and outside Zimbabwe who want to be considered for the biggest club job in the country.

Dynamos ran an advert on Thursday and Sunday calling for applications to replace outgoing Kalisto Pasuwa whose contract runs out at the end of the year.

“The response is so overwhelming that we can even close and start the interviews, but we want to wait until the closing day of application December 15. We will then conduct interviews and have the technical team in place,” said Chikengezha.

Chikengezha, however, declined to reveal the names of the applicants insisting they would only name the winner after the interview.

However, former Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu is one of the foreign coaches believed to have applied for the post.

According to the advert, Dynamos are targeting a coach with at least a Caf A coaching licence and the ability to work under pressure, as well as three years’ experience.

Although most Zimbabwean coaches have attained the Caf A coaching licence, Kaindu — a Zambian national — is one of the few coaches who hold a Uefa B coaching badge.

Methembe Ndlovu, who owns Bantu Rovers, is one of the Zimbabwean coaches with a Uefa B coaching badge, but is highly unlikely to apply for the job because of commitment with his club.

Former Caps United coach Taurai Mangwiro is also believed to have applied for the post. Mangwiro and his technical team Mike “Dread” Madzivanyika and goalkeepers coach Richard Tswatswa quit the Green Machine last week and are believed to be heading for Dynamos.

Some reports have also suggested that Mangwiro is heading for Harare City.

Contacted for comment yesterday, Mangwiro could not deny nor confirm he had applied for the Dynamos job.

“Right now there is nothing concrete. Once there is something I will let you guys know. But why saying Dynamos when there are so many clubs in Zimbabwe? There is definitely something that will come up and will let you know,” said Mangwiro.

ZPC Kariba coach Saul Chaminuka also hinted he could consider applying for the job. “It’s a challenge I would want, but I haven’t applied. Who told you that?” asked Chaminuka.
