The colourful event which was running under the theme, Getting Personal with God was graced by celebrated gospel artistes, who include Pastor Charamba, Zimpraise leader Joseph Madziyire, Sebastian Magacha, Pastor Hubert Chigumira from the United Family International Church, Lawrence Gunda of Gospel Power and popular comedian Timothy Tapfumaneyi of the Timmy na Bonzo comedy fame, among others.

The auditorium was fully packed with some people having to stand throughout the show.

The highly-energetic choir managed to get the audience on its feet during their performances especially on songs We are Soldiers and I am in Love which proved to be favourites for many. Chigumira and Gunda later joined Mahendere on stage for some vocals.

Speaking to NewsDay soon after the event, Mahendere said: “We are happy and grateful to the Almighty about our project and all the support from various stakeholders who have partnered us on this project.”

The live DVD will carry 18 worship songs among them, Tinokudai Jesu, I am in Love, Zvichanaka, Mumoyo, We are Soldiers, Makanaka Jesu and Higher Profile which are going to be available on ITunes during the second week of December.

Michael, who is the youngest of the Mahendere siblings Akim, Amos and Misheck who make up the popular gospel group, Mahendere Brothers, went ‘solo’ in 2012 to release his debut 1- track album called Getting Personal with God.

Mahendere emphasised that doing solo projects does not mean he has deserted his brothers, but the move is aimed at expanding his mission of ministering through music.

What they said at the event:

Mahendere’s mother: “I am happy about what my sons are doing in terms of worshiping. For Michael I was told when I was seven months pregnant that he was going to be a prophet and he had many works that he will do for God so was to be named Michael,” she said.

Nyatsambo Mahendere’s father in-law: I thank you all for coming at this event. I am pleased with how the event was organised. I was there when they launched the first DVD, but today is an extraordinary event,” he said.
