SWEDISH multiple-award-winning investigative reporter, Daniel Öhman, yesterday urged investigative journalists across the world to pool their resources

SWEDISH multiple-award-winning investigative reporter, Daniel Öhman, yesterday urged investigative journalists across the world to pool their resources together when working on complex assignments to ensure they have all relevant facts and avoid litigation.

Öhman made the remarks while addressing 30 African journalists an investigative journalism conference at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“It is always important for journalists across the globe to collaborate when working on complex stories an initiative that allows reporters to gather more facts on their stories,” Öhman said.

“The more journalists collaborate on stories also helps to reduce cases of incarceration of those reporters working in countries with oppressive laws.”

The conference covered a wide range of issues among them, data analysis stories, investigative documentaries, research on the web, undercover and covert reporting, reporting Ebola using maps and data, reporting elections and use of twitter and other social media platform for investigations.
