National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi yesterday said they had positively identified Tawanda Chakoma (40), Nyasha Chakoma (38) and a juvenile, Mercy Togara (2), while the remainder of the victims was yet to be identified as they did not have identification cards.

All the deceased were on the Range Rover.

“Seven people died on the spot, including the driver, and four others died at Parirenyatwa on Sunday night, while two others are in a critical condition,” Nyathi said.

According to the police, the accident occurred when the driver of the Range Rover carrying 13 members of an apostolic sect encroached onto the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with a bus belonging to AFM in Zimbabwe Church’s Sunningdale Assembly which was heading towards Harare.

No one from the bus was injured.
