The 34-year-old Zimbabwean golfer, who suffered a heartbreaking playoff loss at the McGladrey Classic, carded solid rounds of 70-73-65-71 for a 72-hole total of nine-under par 279 for a commendable 13th place finish.

He finished eight shots behind American Ryan Moore, who successfully defended the title he won last year after finishing three shots clear of the field at 17-under-par 271.

After earning himself $123 666, 66 in Malaysia, de Jonge took his season’s earnings to a whopping $670 262, 00 from just four events so far.

de Jonge’s seven-under-par 65 on Saturday was, however, the best round of the day and brought him back into contention for a top 10 finish having initially struggled for consistency in the first two rounds.

Meanwhile South Africa-based Zimbabwean golfer Mark Williams landed his first top 10 finish on the Sunshine Tour this season after a solid perfomance at the Vodacom Origins of Golf Championship at the Pezula Golf Estate and Spa in South Africa.

The 30 year-old Bulawayo-born golfer carded a six-under 66 in the final round, his third sub-par round during the 54-hole tournament to earn R13 406, 25 for his efforts.

Williams was tied for 10th position with South Africans Tyrone Mordt and Jacques Blaauw and Zimbabwe-born Dean Burmester on eight under-par 208

The quartet finished five shots behind the eventual champion South African Keith Horne, who carded five-under-par 67 to seal one-stroke victory over Ulrich van den Berg.

The victory gave Horne his second Vodacom Origins of Golf victory for the year after he won at St Francis Links in August, and lifted him to seventh on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit.
