Gospel enthusiasts will be in for a treat as the event is expected to attract hundreds of fans and Christians from across the country with several renowned and upcoming gospel artistes also expected to grace the event.

The live recording DVD will carry 18 worship songs among them, Mumoyo, Makanaka Jesu and Higher Profile.

Speaking to NewsDay, Mahendere said they were geared up for the recording urging people from all walks of life to come join them at the event.

“With this project we are creating something new for the worship audience and expand the arena as we continue with our mission of ministering through music,” Mahendere said.

Mahendere said he was happy that his debut album was doing well receiving fair play on local radio stations.

“Family and friends, I would like to thank you for your support. Our music is doing well with the song Makanaka Jesu on top of gospel charts for the past weeks,” he said.

“During our recording we are going to sing that song (Makanaka Jesu) in three different languages giving it a new feel.”

Michael, who is the fourth of the Mahendere siblings — Akim, Amos and Misheck — who make up the popular gospel group, Mahendere Brothers, emphasised that going solo on this project does not mean he has deserted his brothers.

“I am still a member of Mahendere Brothers and very much committed to work with the group in our endeavour to spread the Word of God through praise and worship,” Mahendere said.

Michael Mahendere and his wife Vimbai joined United Family International (UFI) church lead by Emmanuel Makandiwa in July 2011 and is among the leaders at the church’s choir.

Many musicians among them legendary musician Leonard Karikoga Zhakata, gospel diva Joyce Simeti and Diva Mafunga among others have joined the UFI church.
