He was speaking at an exhibition held in the capital recently at Gallery Delta.

“Art can be a tremendous vehicle for connecting different sets of values, concepts or exhibition,” he said.

The ambassador, however, emphasised the need to give freedom of expression for artists to explore their artistic nature to bring a united people.

“Giving a voice to different, extra-ordinary and unusual artistic expressions is dear to Switzerland since cultural diversity creates a world which is richer and more varied, a world which offer a wider range of potential and possible choices and contributes to mutual understanding and respect for differences,” said the ambassador.

The exhibition dubbed Quantumlogik is a solo project by Masimba Hwati where he explores the rural culture and urban subcultures.

“The work presented focuses on the aspect of quantum thinking as a culture that is keen on finding connections and common denominators among diverse phenomena,” he said.

Co-founder and trustee of Gallery Delta, Helen Lieros, hailed Hwati’s work saying it was of international repute.

“An exhibition of this calibre needs an international arena, whether in America or Europe or a biennale everywhere. It has standard, content, quality and status of its own,” she said.

32-year-old Hwati now has a decade in exhibiting art works notable among the exhibitions is The 2005 “Non-Conformists” at Gallery Delta, 2005 Intwasa Arts Festival, National Gallery of Zimbabwe, at Comesa, in Lusaka, Zambia, 2007 Vibes, Pledges and Oracles, National Gallery of Zimbabwe.

A holder of a National Diploma in Fine Art, Harare Polytechnic, Hwati runs the Parirenyatwa Art Therapy Programme which was started in 2002 and is run on a volunteer basis.

“I thought of using art for therapeutic value,” he said.
