TRYSON Chimbetu looks like he is in a bid to revive his waning fortunes. Poor management and bad behaviour have left the young musician down

City Sports Bar TRYSON Chimbetu looks like he is in a bid to revive his waning fortunes. Poor management and bad behaviour have left the young musician down as he has been relegated to the doldrums in terms of the inevitable fierce competition in the Chimbetu family. Yet it is the stage that normally redeems one and on Sunday he is granted a chance to do just that.

Long Cheng Plaza

It’s the Look East Policy affair for the University of Zimbabwe SRC that hosts a cocktail of dancehall musicians at Long Cheng Plaza tonight. The event will also be a welcome bash for first-year students that have enrolled at the institution of higher learning.

Artistes expected to perform at the event include Ricky Fire, Shinsoman, Trevor D, Junior Brown, Skatta Watta, Icey, J Boss, Mafia 19, and Mighty Ducks.

Super Label

Long-forgotten dancehall musician Badman returns from South Africa where he has been holed up for several years. The artiste, who used to be the only credible competition for Ninja President Winky D, is launching his comeback album Champion Talk at an event that will also be graced by the explosive Lady Squanda among others. For dancehall, the venue is tried and tested while the artiste should be on top of the game to cause an upset on the cut-throat Zimbabwean scene.

Las Vegas

Sulumani Chimbetu, who returned from the United Kingdom this week, performs at Las Vegas in Southerton tonight.

Archies DJ Ash Styles and his close lieutenant Niveck will be performing their last Friday afternoon session before schools open at Archies this afternoon. The slot has rejuvenated traditional clubbing spirit that had died down with the proliferation of outdoor venues.

Gijima Sports Bar

Gijima Sports Bar tomorrow makes a change after a series of consecutive Mbira Fridays and hosts veteran jazz outfit Pied Pipers. The predominantly Mbare group has an interesting approach to the genre that should leave many sweating on the dance floor.

New Life

Sungura ace Alick Macheso returns to Budiriro for a show at New Life Nite Club tonight. The venue is regarded one of the best hunting grounds by musicians and the show should sure warm up the unusual September nights currently characterising the imminent summer.

Pamuzinda Highway Escape

It will mainly be a DJ affair at Pamuzinda this weekend starting with DJs Bash and Glory tonight. Tomorrow former Globetrotter entertainer Jazzy F plays alongside guest DJ Cables. On Sunday it will be a Mangerengere affair with Progress Chipfumo playing at a free show alongside a variety of DJs.

Dulibadzimu Stadium Beitbridge

Alick Macheso performs in the southern border town tomorrow evening. The shows at the stadium never disappoint with multitudes of travellers making time to watch live performances. On Sunday the musician crosses into Midlands for a family show at Caravan Park in Zvishavane to entertain platinum miners and gold panners.

Rits Nite Club Masvingo

The Young Igwe performs at Ritz Nite Club in Masvingo tonight. He will be accompanied by Beverly Sibanda and the Sexy Angels. The duo take their romance to Chiredzi for a show at Chikangwe Hall before Peter goes solo on Sunday for a show in Chivi.

Dzonzayi Chipinge Sulumani Chimbetu joins forces with fellow musician Somandla Ndebele for a show at Dzonzayi in Chipinge. The rare combination should be a treat for the Chipinge folk as Sulu is welcomed back from the United Kingdom. Entertainment Reporters
