ZIMBABWE’S first privately-owned radio station, ZiFM Stereo, has been rated among the best 20 radio stations in Africa in terms of quality programming.
This is according to Network Africa, a United Kingdom-based international online news and entertainment publication.
The website’s chief editor Joachim Mba said their aim was to encourage the best quality practice in Africa.
Mba said the criteria used included gauging popular demand, online presence and social media profiles.
ZiFM Stereo, which is owned by AB Communications, went on air on August 15 2011. AB Communications chief executive Susan Makore said she felt honoured by the ratings.
“Given that we have been broadcasting for just two years, we are very humbled by this recognition,” Makore said.
The rating comes at a time ZiFM Stereo is celebrating its second anniversary today.
