TRAUMA Centre’s major shareholder Dr Vivek Solanki has vowed to stay put insisting he was still the legitimate owner of the state-of-the-art medical institution.

Solanki said the hospital at number 15 Lanark Road, Avondale in Harare, was still operational.
“The hospital is running fully and we are operating it normally. Peter Annesley and Beatrice Mtetwa (lawyer) are accusing me of removing hospital equipment, I say no, this is my hospital, why would I remove my own things? These are my patients, my own furniture and equipment, I am not going anywhere, I am here to stay,” Solanki said.
According to the Supreme Court’s ruling, Streamsleigh Investments, operating as African Medical Investment (AMI), is the rightful owner of the hospital.
But Solanki, has since filed a constitutional challenge to the Supreme Court’s finding.
He claimed that he owns both Streamsleigh and Autoband Investments, the two parties at the centre of the ownership dispute.
“I formed Streamsleigh, being the firm that bought the land in 1995 and has been the director from day one, I am Autoband Investment which is my operating company and Streamsleigh is my land owning company,” he said.

“In 2010 AMI illegally, without a court order, took possession of the hospital, and used my papers which they got from my safe and the title deeds to their benefit. I have a case pending in the High Court which I submitted in 2012 under case number HC4632/12, Dr Vivek Solanki versus African Medical Investment, seeking to bar these whites from operating my company.”
AMI argued in court that the hospital belonged to the organisation after buying it from Solanki.
But Solanki said he was challenging the medical investment company to produce the requisite agreements of sale.
“All the documents pertaining to Streamsleigh Investment are sitting with my accountant. So if they are the owners, why is my accountant holding their papers? I am the only legitimate owner together with my other co-directors, me being the major shareholder,” he said. He claimed the hospital saga had become more political, “especially following my altercation with former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai more than 10 days ago”.
