Mlambo was speaking to NewsDay on the sidelines of the launch of Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Voice of Mbare gospel group’s seventh album Kune Musha at Rainbow Park Lane auditorium in the capital.

The album also comes with an accompanying DVD that is in its pre-production phase with two videos having been finished so far.

“Creativity is composing songs in a way that defines an artiste in his own originality without being labelled a copycat,” Mlambo said.

“I am impressed by the originality and the artistic ways in which CCAP Voice of Mbare have shown in their video.”

An all-made outfit, CCAP Voice of Mbare launched their seven-track album which was recorded at Eternity Productions by renowned producer MacDee (real name MacDonald Chidavanenzi).

Songs on the album are Fambai Neni, title track Kune Musha, Masimba Ndeenyu, Muli Mpavhu (Munesimba Rinoshamisa), Upenyu, Mwari Baba and Nditungamirei.

The group’s chairman William Mikaye said they were overwhelmed by the progress they had made, but urged people to desist from buying pirated music as a way of supporting the growth of the industry.

“We will be releasing the accompanying DVD for the album soon and at the moment we have finished shooting videos of two songs Kune Musha and Upenyu that were recorded in Victoria Falls during our Eternity Gospel Explosion Tour,” Mikaye said.

He said they would soon be embarking on a nationwide tour to market the album.

Some of the original members of the group who were behind their debut album Nganganga which raised the group to stardom performed the title track [Nganganga] much to the delight of the audiences.

An array of gospel musicians among them Mathias Mhere, Flame B, Kingdom Praise and Life Nechavava put up sterling performances during their turn on stage.

Albums under the CCAP Voice of Mbare belt include Nganganga, Alemekezeke, Jesu Ndiye Wangu and Mbiri Kuna Mwari.

The launch also saw another member of CCAP Church Macdonald Kachingwe launching his fifth album titled Munamato.
