WARRIORS striker Edward Sadomba continued to dazzle in Africa as he netted yet another goal on Saturday for his Libyan top-flight football side Al Ahly Benghazi, condemning Tunisian giants Esperance to their second straight defeat in the Caf Champions’ League Group B.

It was Sadomba’s fifth Caf Champions League goal of the season, leaving him as leader for the Champions League golden boot award — an accolade which he won in 2011 after scoring seven goals.

He opened the scoring for Ahly Benghazi before Farag Mbarak doubled the lead seven minutes later to give the hosts a commanding lead.Esperance then pulled one back through Ahmed Akaichi, but Nigerian Moses Orkuma restored the two-goal lead of the Libyans before half time.

Esperance fought back, but only managed a consolation through Oussama Darragi on 78 minutes.

Sadomba’s team are third in their group with three points, a point behind joint leaders ES Setif and CS Sfaxien while Esperance — two time Caf Champions League winner — are pointless at the bottom off the group.

The latest defeat has led to the sacking of Esperance coach Ruud Krol, who is a former Orlando Pirates coach, and he has since been replaced by a local, Sebastian Desabre.

It was the kind of form that Ian Gorowa would want Sadomba in for the Warriors clash with Tanzania on Sunday.

Sadomba has confirmed his availability for the match and should be arriving in the country to link up with the Warriors today.

However, it’s not looking good for another Warriors man Costa Nhamoinesu as he is yet to recover from a shoulder injury he sustained a month ago.

The Czech Republic-based left-back was expected to return to action last week in his club Sparta Praha’s League Cup final match against Viktoria Plzen, but he failed to recover in time.

After missing last week’s match, he was expected to make it for the team’s Sunday’s league match, but he was still absent and it now appears the injury is worse than had initially been feared.

The Czech Republic league ends next week and it has been a fruitful campaign for Nhamoinesu who won a league and cup double in his debut season.

Mike Temwanjira started and finished the match for Romanian club Vaslui who concluded their season over the weekend.

Vaslui finished the season on fifth position and lost out to a Uefa Europa league spot after a bad spell saw them losing their last four matches.

While many big leagues concluded over the weekend with some next week and many Zimbabwean players abroad beginning to trickle home for holidays, it’s not the same for Sweden-based Archford Gutu whose league runs concurrently with the Zimbabwean league.

The Allsvenskan entered its 10th week with Gutu’s club Kalmar FF emerging 2-0 winners over regular Uefa Champions League representatives Helsingborg on Sunday. Gutu did not make the final 18 for the weekend match.

In Vietnam, Justice Majabvi played the entire match for Hai Phong who lost 2-0 at home to Quang Nam.

Majabvi’s team are on ninth position in the 13-team table after 14 rounds of matches.
