Soul Chirume and Tafadzwa Chidawa both from the ZRP CBD Traffic Unit were arrested last week after they allegedly pounced on the kombi driver Eric Muchenje, assaulted him and smashed the windscreen of his vehicle.

Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei last Friday, remanded the two out of custody to today after they paid $20 bail each.

It is alleged the duo confronted Muchenje who was driving at corner of Jason Moyo and Leopold Takawira streets before Chirume smashed the side window pane and the windscreen of the complainant’s car.

The State alleges that the police officers indiscriminately assaulted Muchenje before they were restrained by their colleague identified as Benjamin Chivasa.

Muchenje who allegedly sustained multiple assault injuries later filed a police report, leading to the pair’s arrest.
