MIGHTY Warriors coach Rosemary Mugadza has made a few changes in her team for the international football friendly against their South African counterparts over the weekend, a match she has described as a “must-win”.

The team was expected to fly out of the country for Johannesburg last night for the match at Dobsonville on Saturday afternoon.

Zimbabwe and South Africa are using the friendly match, which kicks off at 1330hrs, to fine-tune their squads for the African Women Champions (AWC) final round qualifier set for late next month.

Mugadza has stuck with the team that beat Botswana in the previous qualifier, with only two new faces on the final travelling squad.

Rejoice Kampfumvuti of Inline Academy and Tenax Queens’ Berata Kabwe made it in the final squad.

The two have been called up for camp before, but failed to break into the final 18. Sicelo Dube and Violet Bepete have made way.

“The match is a good preparation for us ahead of the Zambia game. South Africa are a strong side and they will definitely give us the test we need. This match is about giving our players confidence going to the Zambia match. It’s a friendly match we will try hard to win for that reason,” said Mugadza yesterday.

The former Mighty Warriors defender added: “We cannot afford to make many changes to the team at the moment. We need to prepare the players that are there. They know the system and what is expected of them at the national team level.”

Zimbabwe will play Zambia while Banyana Banyana, who will be without the injured Janine van Wyk, will meet Comoros in the last week of May, with the winners qualifying for the ACW finals to be hosted by Namibia in October.

The ninth edition of the finals will see the top three finishers represent the continent at the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
