Known for his satire in an animated voice, the singer took about 10 minutes showering praises on his girlfriend Bounty Lisa, whose mic was for the better part of the time relegated to a toy while Soul Jah Love went on a rib-cracking expedition.

“Baby girl, I love you more than the way I love myself. You are my queen, my royal woman,” Soul Jah Love said.

“Iyi inonzi smart London Botswana chips; gum kum soup,” sending revellers into a frenzy.

“You are my double beef burger with gumkumu soup (gecko) and ostrich backbone.”

Interestingly, the Gum Kum hit maker did the unthinkable when he also played the master of ceremony himself.

The 15 minute ceremony was preceded by performances by Kinnah, Seh Calaz and Platinum Prince, among others

The show drew a sizable crowd with Dadza D and Soul Jah Love getting the biggest attention.

The duo proved their creativity by performing free style tunes drawing applause from the receptive audience.

Some of the revellers applauded the would-be couple, for leading by example urging fellow musicians to emulate the same gesture.

“Soul Jah Love and Bounty Lisa’s engagement is one thing fellow musicians must emulate,” Brighton Humbasha of Warren Park said.

The 24-year-old chanter, real name Soul Musaka, who once made headlines for failing to fulfil gigs despite receiving deposits or advance payments, has steadily risen to become one of the hottest artistes on the local dancehall circuit.

His famous Hauite Hauite punch line has become the new buzzword as it is now an integral part of the ghetto lingo across the country within dancehall fanatics.

Meanwhile, violence continued to rock shows featuring dancehall artistes as Qounfuzed, real name McDonald Sheldon, was by yesterday still being detained at Harare Central Police Station on allegations of assaulting fellow chanter Seh Calaz at the gig.

Although Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tadius Chibanda yesterday professed ignorance, NewsDay is reliably informed that the case IR number 040498 was reported and Qounfuzed is set to appear in court on assault charges today.

Seh Calaz manager Godfrey Bakasa said he was shocked by Qounfuzed’s alleged behaviour.

“Qounfuzed punched She Calaz in front of the police and tried to evade in movie getaway style by jumping into a car,” Bakasa said.

“Seh Calaz did not fight back, but it was an assault as written in the police report.”

According to Bakasa, Seh Calaz sustained an injury on his left jaw.
