MUSIC promoter Patson Chimbodza’s 10th Anniverssary celebrations start tonight with a gig lined up for Dandaro Inn at the Harare Show Grounds. ENTERTAINMENT REPORTER Popularly known as Chipaz, the music promoter said it seemed like yesterday when he ventured into the taxing industry although milestones tell the story of a long journey. Veteran jazz crooners Jabavu Drive will be responsible for entertaining the revellers, while Sulu and Jah Prayzah feature as guests.

Chipaz said he was happy the bulk of artistes that he worked with 10 years ago when he got into the business were still in the game.

“Some of the artistes that I started with are still here, unfortunately with the exception of the likes of Andy Brown and others who have departed,” he said.

Chipaz added that he even still remembered what he had discussed with most of them on the first day he thought of such an event.

He said the main idea behind today’s event was to get artistes to mix and mingle among themselves.

“Unlike in most businesses where people have meetings almost daily, musicians never get such a chance, so basically this is a time for them to reflect as they forge partnerships,” Chipaz said.

The music promoter will also be hosting mega-celebrations starting with the dinner for musicians and on Friday, the celebrations go a gear up with a sungura night at Gwanzura Stadium, a soccer match on Saturday afternoon and a dancehall gig in the evening.

A gospel family show will then seal off the celebrations at the same venue.
