Starting at 7pm, the pilot project show will see comedians like Simba the Comic King, Masusela, Louizzy the Prince of Comedy and Doc Vikela performing on the night. Director and producer of the show Joe Njagu said entry would be free to people interested.

“It has been long overdue to have a comedy show for television. We have incredible comic talent in Zimbabwe, so when Simba the Comic King approached me with the idea of creating a TV show, I immediately jumped onto it,” Njagu said.

“People always complain about boring content on TV and this is a step towards giving good entertaining content to broadcasters. I have come on board as a producer and director and it is going to be a first for Zimbabwean TV.”

Njagu said it was time for Zimbabweans to see comedians on TV, not the usual elite shows that only reached a limited audience.

Local television viewers have for a long time been clamouring for better programming at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).

The broadcaster has suffered immensely from loss of advertising revenue and viewership due to its archaic programming.

New satellite television channel BOStv together with Multichoice appear to be some of the viable options that Zimbabweans have for now as ZBC has been failing on capitalise on the creative work being done by local artistes.
