TECHNOMAG founder and editor-in-chief Tonderai Toneo Rutsito last Saturday was awarded the prestigious Top ICT Journalist of the Year 2013 award, under the Ministry of ICT’s Achievers awards 2013.

The awards recognised Zimbabwe’s top ICT players or contributors and a total of 16 national awards were up for grabs to honour the nation’s finest.

This award surely consolidates and affirms TechnoMag as Zimbabwe’s premier Technology magazine scooping an award in a hotly contested category by Zimbabwe’s top technology writers.

In the same category, there were three nominees including a ZBC technology reporter and a lifestyle reporter.

www.TechnoMag.co.zw was officially launched on September 21, only three months back at Holiday Inn and today it has more than a total of 10 000 social network following, an average of 2 000 unique visitors every day and 1,5 million hits every month.

This by no doubt has become Zimbabwe’s fastest growing technology website as they seek to educate, inform and entertain the Zimbabwean community and the world at large on technological developments.

“TechnoMag is not a purely news website, it is rather a technology magazine, We focus more on video interviews, event live streaming, do-it-your (DIY) self-guides, handy tips, technology news, review and analyses, information security and technology jobs top, among others,” the founding editor said.

Rutsito in his personal capacity is also a columnist in the Herald Business every Thursday, a technology column he pioneered two years ago and today he has a total of four awards emanating from his national technology contribution.

Last year, he won the prestigious National Journalists Award (NJAMA) ICT Reporter of the Year 2012, an award he still defends by default since the category was skipped this year.

In 2012 again, he was also awarded the ICT Reporter of the Year runner-up, under the then Ministry of ICT Achievers awards 2012.

Today, TechnoMag has consolidated its place and input by increasing its visibility across print media platforms as they seek to inform, educate and update Zimbabweans, where they run a weekly technology column in the Zimbabwe Independent newspaper and NewsDay.

In aninterview, the TechnoMag founder said he “thanks God for the gift bestowed and its so much more humbling when the authorities get to recognise the efforts and commitment we are putting too”.
