The festival which runs as a countdown to the New Year will see performances by celebrated artists including Audius Mtawarira, Roki, Guspy Warrior, Chikwata 263, Judgement Yard and Shinsoman.

Varsity Blues public relations officer and event coordinator Tavonga Mafundikwa said they wanted to give the festival a deserving launch.

“We have added more artists such as Roki, Guspy Warrior and Judgement Yard from our previous line up. We want this event to be big, we want to give Harare a show of their life,” he said.

“We are all set from our end, all we are waiting for is for people to turn up and party.”

The Harare Countdown Festival has four shows lined up before the end of year, three of them staging at Harare gardens today, and on December 20 and 28. The final show will be on First Street on the New Year’s Eve.

“We have a selection of different artists who appeal to different people so as to unite people in celebrating life and success of 2013 while gearing up for the next year,” said Mafundikwa.

“We will announce performers for the next shows as time goes on but people should brace themselves for an explosive package.”
