Warriors drop further in world rankings

-

THE Warriors remained outside the top 100-ranked nations in latest Fifa Coca Cola World Football Rankings despite their 0-0 draw against Tanzania in an international friendly this month in Dar es Salaam.

Zimbabwe are now ranked 106 in the world after dropping four places and 29th in Africa.

Inactivity on Fifa international friendly dates have been the major cause of the Warriors’ free fall, but Ian Gorowa’s men have confirmed two matches set for December 8 and 18 at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo. The two matches form part of the Warriors’ preparation for the 2014 African Nations Championships (Chan) that will run from January 11 to February 1 in South Africa.

The Warriors face Morocco at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town in the opener before facing the Cranes of Uganda and Burkina Faso.

The next update for Fifa rankings is December 19, a day after the Warriors would have played Libya in an international friendly match at Barbourfields. The Warriors have also confirmed another friendly against Mozambique in Bulawayo on December 8.
