Female fans had camped at the known exit for Macheso and he had to escape through the crowd to avoid being mobbed.

It has become common at live gigs for women to mob their revered artistes for photo shoots, often causing delays in the programme.

But it appears Macheso had done his homework.

Numerous women scampered around the backstage, but they lost out as Macheso had already driven off in his BMW X5 by the time they realised he had used a different exit.

Drama had started after Macheso finished off his set and women started milling around the backstage.

Meanwhile, Macheso introduced Bruce Mpofu, son to the late Paul Mpofu, as a supporting act during the show after months of performing alone.
