The show would be part of the October World Music Festival running until October 19.

Masike, who recently returned from a successful European tour, said she was ready to go on stage with the ensemble.

“People can expect a mixed bag of music styles and cultures too. I recently launched an act called The Princess of Mbira, so we are developing it for the upcoming performance,” she said.

Masike said audiences could look out for something fun and fresh and the festival would mostly concentrate on music exchange between Italy and Zimbabwe although there are South African bands as well.

The Brother Moves On is an intriguing South African performance art ensemble from Johannesburg. The festival will this year see the participation of some exciting international and local acts including Enzo Favata Quartet and Piero Delle Monache from Italy, Siya Makuzeni from South Africa, Zimboita, an Italian and Zimbabwean collaboration together with local artistes Alick Macheso and Mokoomba, among others.

Favata is one of the most well-known musicians on the Italian international music scene, he fuses acoustic instruments with electronic and computer technology and his musical reach joins the arcane and the modern, experimenting with different languages and musical cultures.

A total of 30 performances will take place at various surrounding venues including The Italian Club, Reps Theatre and The Book Café during the festival.

Tomorrow a family show at Megga 2 will feature ZimboIta, a collaborative project between Zimbabwean and Italian musicians Blessing Chimanga, Max Covini and Matteo Boldini.

The ZimboIta project was born out of the Italian Embassy’s far-reaching culture exchange programme.
