The Spirit of God prophetically envisaged a dispensation where creatures will live together harmoniously.

Sermon of the Week with Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

In the age of the Messianic Kingdom, pursuit of goals will be without harm to others.

All will get a livelihood in an ecosystem devoid of rancour.

Pursuit of individual goals and abidance to preferred ideological philosophy will be predicated on mutual respect, tolerance and love.

Based on this foretaste, life therefore can be lived without harming yourself, others, the environment and the climate.

Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 11:6: “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.”

The absence of enmity, brutality and hostility will characterise this age.

Cut out from this template, Jesus taught love as a foundation of earthly life.

If the wolf, leopard and lion have lost appetite for human being, why as a human being do you crave for human blood?

A kingdom-structured life demands going about your business without hurting and destroying others.

The prophet Micah saw this era and says in Micah 4:3: “And He shall judge among many people and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

A time of peace, happiness and godliness is coming.

Christological presentation of scripture encourages mutual existence.

Smart competition and coexistence should be the pillars for your progress.

The investment in weapons of mass destruction is too much compared to efforts put to fight malaria.

Budgets to defence, military and aggression smack in the face of fight against poliomyelitis.

We live in societies where success is either by climbing on the shoulders of others or decimation of competitors.

As I write, some are nursing wounds or carrying permanent wounds caused by competition and rivalry.

There is always space for every person or organisation to pursue their objectives without harm to others.

Pulling each other down is not the answer.

Total annihilation of competitors or opponents does not offer sweet victory.

A race that requires other participants should be run that way. If others succeed as well, it should still be good for you.

Success does not mean everyone else should cry under your suppression.

Exorcise the spirit of witchcraft before you fall from the winnowing basket you are travelling in.

I always hear about how soccer teams from other parts of Africa are inhumanly treated in North and West Africa to demoralise them before matches.

Sometimes, they are made to wait many hours at the airport then travel unbearable distances by road, booked at noisy lodges and made to practise in stadia of the quality of sweet potato fields.

Still, on level playing field, you can still get into the boxing ring and win the contest without denying your opponent gloves.

We don’t want war between and among media players.

Readers, viewers and listeners want the truth. Mobile service providers should note that dressing down competitors is not the answer, but dressing up themselves.

The dog-eat-dog fights in society are sometimes so extreme.

They range from contests between the so-called super powers and weaker nations, between ruling and opposition parties, between the majority and minority groups and big and small corporates. The church is not spared.

Sometimes, all we hear from the pulpits are proclamations that, “our ministry or denomination is better than the rest.”

The teaching and preaching of the Word of God may be ignored and people never connected to Jesus.

Whenever a doctrine does not point you to Jesus, think twice. Real success comes after seeing off challenges of adversity that had the muscle to cause you to fail.

A sweet win is celebrated when the competition was stiff and you had the cutting edge not that you cut the life out of your competitors. This is the time to think of peace, justice, fairness and equity as an option.

Tranquil environment sustains progress and advancement. As you aim your loaded gun at your opponent, think of digging a mine and come out with minerals that will change the standard of life of your society.

Instead of spending sleepless nights planning the demise of your competitor, why don’t you use the energy to think of safer and cheaper ways of energy generation?

Forsake selfishness, cruelty and warmonger attitude and advance the interests of mankind.

Be useful to human endeavour.

You are going somewhere.
