According to papers filed with the regional court in Harare, the accused, Reuben Zhira (28) of Solani in Epworth, tried to force himself on 19–year–old Elisha Benhura of Chinamano in the same area.

Allegations against Zhira are that on August 4 this year at around 3 o’clock in the morning, the accused and the complainant were sleeping in the same room. The complainant suddenly woke up and was shocked upon realising that the accused had inserted his erect manhood into his anus.

When he asked Zhira what he was doing, the latter allegedly professed ignorance and said he did not know what had come upon him. The complaint made a police report the following morning leading to the arrest of the accused person.

Zhira has been charged for aggravated indecent assault as defined in Section 66 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. The accused is yet to appear in court for his remand hearing.
