Injury-hit Dynamos seek to bounce back

DYNAMOS will be without striker Washington Pakamisa and Patson Jaure for their game against How Mine at Rufaro Stadium tomorrow as the league champions look to bounce back from their loss at Buffaloes last Wednesday.

SPORTS REPORTER

Jaure has been down since aggravating his injury while playing for the Warriors against Egypt two weeks ago.

Pakamisa limped off the match against Buffaloes and the club coach Kalisto Pasuwa yesterday said the doctors have told him he will have to do without his top goal scorer this week.

Defender Byron Madzokere, who is struggling with a back injury, has also failed to recover in time for the match.

“The doctors said he tore a tissue on his hamstring muscle. He will not be available for the match,” confirmed Pasuwa.

Pasuwa though should be more desperate for a win after recording his first defeat of the season a few days ago.

An inquest into the loss was held on Thursday when the team’s top hierarchy summoned Pasuwa to “explain the defeat”.

He said the team’s first major setback of the season could have come at a right time.

“We knew the defeat was always coming and I think it actually put the pressure off our shoulders. But our major problem has been these injuries. There is no week where we go into a match with our full squad. Patson is out and we had problems in defence and now Pakamisa is also down. He has been doing well, scoring goals regularly in the last few weeks. This situation is a challenge to some of the players to show what they are capable of,” said Pasuwa.

Vice-captain Tawanda Muparati returns from suspension.

How Mine coach Philani Mabhena said all his players are available for selection, as his side also looks to recover from a huge slump in recent weeks after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Triangle at Luveve on Thursday.

“We have not pressed any panic buttons as yet. Naturally, we are disappointed with the way we have been dropping points of late, but we are happy with the way things are going at the club this far because we are still within the confines of our season’s objectives,” said Mabhena.

He added: “The confidence is there and we have been playing well. Our major undoing has been the number of chances we miss. The team’s performance against Triangle was encouraging although I was not really impressed with the strikers. But the point we got on Thursday was a positive step for us and it could be the start of good things to come. Dynamos are a very good side and we will have to be at our best to win the match.”
