The show will be one of a string of events lined up to raise funds for the group’s trip to the United States.

The group needs $60 000 to travel for the International Choral Awards to be held in the US in July.

The award-winning ensemble is set to tour the country shortly and their next concert is set for Harare.

Anorld Dzangare, the choir director of the 65-member group confirmed today’s concert. “This is going to be our first concert before a nationwide tour as we seek funds for the United States trip,” he said.

“We also need to travel to South Africa for this year’s edition of the Old Mutual Choral Competitions. I pray the Bulawayo concert will bring something as we are racing against time,” he said.

The US competitions were facilitated by the late founder of the group Israel Dzangare who was invited for the same competitions held in Argentina in 2011.

Chitungwiza Harmony Singers was formed in 1993 and since then the group has become the best A cappella ensemble in the country.

For several years, they have competed in the Old Mutual Regional Choir Championships in South Africa which draws the very best choirs from all over Southern Africa.

The choir scooped various awards at the competition.
