Attain stardom, maintain it

Opinion & Analysis
Like I always say, you would not want to regret when you go to heaven and discover that you could have done so much more on earth than you did.

Like I always say, you would not want to regret when you go to heaven and discover that you could have done so much more on earth than you did. There are people that should make history and make our world better, but cannot bear what it takes to reach stardom. Sermon of the Week with Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

Some people are now total failures after they were submerged by the storms of a successful life. There are those that were supposed to make a mark in the history books, but went down to the grave as common people. The world out there may not be nice and accommodative as you would desire.

However, if you stand strong it will submit to the force of the calling and destiny in you. There are ravening wolves out there, but stand strong so that they ask for peace terms from you. Create your atmosphere where you will succeed. Maintain the pressure until everything falls into your orbit including your seasoned critics and opponents.

In order to reach the pinnacle of life in your chosen field and to maintain pole position you have to lead a life of sustained consecration and sacrifice. You should separate yourself from bad influence.

Stay away from people, things and situations that draw you back. Separation does not mean you won’t greet people and serve humanity. Remain on earth while you serve a heavenly calling.

You will have to forego many things that are exalted in this world even the right and nice ones. Above your input to the success story you will of course discover that what took you to the top was sheer grace of God. Apart from boasting that you have the gift, talent, calling and destiny; you have to lead a life of sustained discipline and commitment.

To begin the success story might be so easy, but to maintain it may cost you so much. Success interferes with your schedule and likes in life. Your sleep may be interrupted so will be your eating plan and dish. Many so-called norms will be disturbed.

An athlete or artist who wants to be really great cannot always be in the pub, hooking up with loose people, drinking, smoking and eating like they are on a fattening scheme. Leisure time may be elbowed out by time in the gym, studio or training ground.

Apostle Paul is one of the greatest apostles of all time and one of the great pioneers of the early church. He is credited with the writing of about a third of the New Testament of the Bible.

This is a model for success. A close look at his calling will show that it was a life of devotion to things of heaven and forfeiture of the good things in life.

In calling him, Jesus says in Acts 9:16, “For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.” The public only saw the display of God’s power when the dead would rise to life and snakes biting him and he would not be hurt, but behind the scenes he would be suffering for Jesus.

I don’t think many would take up the calling when Jesus should make it clear in your hearing that you will suffer for His name’s sake. You may desire to remain in the comfort of the ordinary.

I have had the opportunity to share time and life with some people that have made it to the world stage. It’s amazing how much they forego to fulfil purpose in life. The reason why many people quickly fall down is that they cannot stand the heat and cannot adjust to the lifestyle at the top.

They are quickly overwhelmed by demands that appear you have lost touch with real life. That’s why many of your stars end up in drugs, homosexuality and other career and life damaging habits.

Remember that there are not so many people at the summit. The climate is different from ground conditions. While you watch the goings on among the common people, you have to constantly recline to your seclusion and constantly ascertain that you are still on course.

Don’t be carried away by the ululation of the crowd. Jesus would always retreat to solitude and be with God to stay focussed and energised after successful preaching. Even if you feed more that five thousand people with two fish and five loaves, you still have to meet the requirements of the Creator. Consider today to change the course of your life and be counted among the best.

If it means a day without eating so be it. You may have to forego your favourite television programme, waking up early and leading a disciplined life.I don’t know what success you are chasing; attain it and maintain it. You are going somewhere.
