Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident which occurred in Umvovo suburb, Chegutu.

Police said on the fateful day, the deceased Rachel Zione and her husband Hosiah Muringa (31) retired to bed.

It is reported that Zione was in an unstable state of mind following an altercation over an undisclosed matter.

“At around 3am Zione woke up and took a kitchen knife which she had put somewhere in the bedroom. She stabbed herself in the throat and she started bleeding profusely.

Her husband was only awakened by her groans and was shocked to see his wife lying in a pool of blood,” said Mabgweazara.
