Zimbabwe and Zambia will co-host the 20th UNWTO General-Assembly from August 24-29 in Victoria Falls and Livingstone respectively.

“We have received $1 million from the treasurer and I am sure Minister (Tendai) Biti will review it every fortnight until it reaches $6,5 million,” Mzembi said on Tuesday.

He said his ministry required a total of $11,2 million for the general assembly where an estimated 4 000 delegates were expected to attend.

Mzembi said a conference organiser had since been appointed to spearhead the preparation for the conference.

Mbada Diamonds has also pledged $2,5 million towards the hosting of the conference.

The company has so far released $600 000.
