Kariba Business Expo set for September

THE Kariba Business Expo set for September will spotlight the commercial aspects of the resort town and create linkages between businesses, organisers have said.

The expo comes at a time when there is growing recognition of support companies in the tourism sector.

There have been calls for value addition to the traditional tourism services and the expo is expected to present opportunities for companies in the town to showcase their services to a wider community.

It will run from September 5 to 8.

Safecan Holdings chief executive officer Maxwell Kanhema, the brains behind the expo, told NewsDay Business that this year’s event would focus on the growing need to create business networks and synergies.

“Kariba has been undermarketed for a long time and expos like this will do much to put the town on (the) map as far as business is concerned. It is known as a resort town, but there is something to smile about as far as commerce is concerned,” he said.

“We want to create a link between Kariba-based businesses and those from out of the town, as well as promote green tourism and the role of the arts in promoting tourism.”

Most companies with operations in the resort town and others that offer recreational and tourism support services are expected to showcase at the expo.

“Exhibitors will benefit from networking and get increased visibility and it is a chance for them to meet potential investors,” he said.
