THE trial of soccer legend and former captain of the senior national soccer team Peter Ndlovu, charged with culpable homicide following a fatal accident that killed his brother Adam and a female passenger Nomqhele Tshili last December, kicks off at the Victoria Falls Magistrates’ Courts today.

The matter was postponed twice early this year after Ndlovu’s lawyer Harrison Nkomo indicated that he had other commitments.
“The trial will be on. I will be flying to Victoria Falls for the trial. This time I am available,” Nkomo told NewsDay yesterday.
Ndlovu (40) is facing two counts of culpable homicide arising from the fatal road accident which occurred in Victoria Falls after his BMW X5 vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree killing the two. Ndlovu, who was reportedly driving the vehicle, sustained multiple leg fractures in the accident.
The soccer legend has not yet been asked to plead to the charge and is out of custody on his own cognisance.
The State alleges that on December 16 last year, Ndlovu failed to negotiate a curve at the 417km peg near Lupinyu business centre in Victoria Falls and lost control of the vehicle.
The car veered off the road and hit a tree, killing Tshili on the spot, while Adam died on the way to Victoria Falls Hospital.
