FORMER Warriors striker and Highlanders legend Madinda Ndlovu escaped unhurt after the vehicle he was travelling in knocked down a cow in Botswana yesterday morning.

REPORT BY SUKOLUHLE MTHETHWA

Madinda, who is the head coach for Botswana’s Be Mobile League champions Mochudi Centre Chiefs, confirmed the accident which he said occurred on his way to Zimbabwe.

Speaking to NewsDay Sport from his home in Gaborone, Ndlovu allayed fears that he had suffered serious injuries from the accident.

“I was involved in an accident at 3am this (yesterday) morning. I hit a cow resulting in the damage to my car on impact,” Ndlovu said.

“I was at Dibete in Gaborone on my way to Zimbabwe. I am fine, people will want to blow this out of proportion after Peter and Adam’s accident, but I am fine. It is a normal accident.”

Ndlovu said he was travelling alone at the time of the accident and only said the car he was travelling in had Botswana registration numbers.

Sources though said he was travelling in a Mercedes Benz.

His brother Marko Dube also confirmed the accident, saying he had sent people to check on the Bosso legend.

“It’s true, but for now I cannot say anything, I have sent some people to go and check on him. You can call me later in the day after I get an update,” Dube said.

The accident comes three months after Madinda lost his younger brother, Adam, in a horrific car crash a few kilometres before the resort town of Victoria Falls.

Adam was travelling with younger brother Peter for a soccer legends game in the resort town.

Adam, who was Chicken Inn head coach, died on the way to hospital while a woman who was travelling with the brothers, Nomqhele Tshili, died on the spot.

Peter, on the other hand, sustained cuts in the head and fractured legs. He attended the burial of his brother in a wheelchair.
