Magistrate Ngoni Nduna suspended six months of the sentence for five years on condition of good behaviour.

A further two years were set aside on condition Matewu restituted Delta Beverages the stolen money.

The court heard that sometime in September last year, Delta Beverages internal auditors carried out an audit and discovered that Matewu could not account for the $17 770 cash which he held in trust on behalf of the company for paying creditors.

The auditors observed that between September 14 and 21, Matewu withdrew various amounts of cash from the company’s cash office and converted it to his own use. Vote Zishiri prosecuted.
