The events were aimed at encouraging youths to register for voting in the forthcoming elections.

Tryson Chimbetu and Blessing Shumba performed at Checheche business centre while Jah Prayzah and Freeman took their acts to Rimbi.

At Checheche, Chimbetu took the stage first and took time to encourage young people to register as voters.

Dr Nero, as the young musician is affectionately known, belted songs from his previous albums and sampled a few tracks from his upcoming release.

He wrapped up his performance with a song called Bhora Mberi which he complemented with a new dance called Chirauro. The crowd sang along to the upcoming song and went into a frenzy over his outstanding performance.

Next on stage was Mutare-based gospel musician Blessing Shumba.

Shumba introduced himself with the song Nhaka and the crowd welcomed him with wild cheers before some took turns to join him on stage to dance with him.

In celebrating the two musicians’ talents, one reveller waved a placard written “Tryson, Blessing bosses of the match” throughout the show.

Shumba took the time to introduce his new album Shongwe which has been nominated for the Outstanding Album award at the upcoming National Arts Merit Awards.

Songs Kanganwiro, Wanano and Vanorwara Vese proved to be powerful offerings from the musician’s new album and sent the crowds into frenzy.

Speaking on the sidelines of the show, Chimbetu said it was very important for youths to register and vote as the future of the country rested upon them.

“We are the youths and we have also to make decisions since we are the future of the country. These young people should register to vote,” said Chimbetu.

At Rimbi, Jah Prayzah and Emerge Chizanga aka Freeman, took the same message to the youths.

Jah Prayzah said there was need for the youths to register as they were also responsible for the day-to-day running of the state.

Clad in his all-green regalia, the musician left fans in awe with songs Musango, Gochi Gochi and upcoming song Tsviriyo.

Freeman went on stage ahead of Jah Prayzah and gave a commendable performance.

Director of Platform for Youth Development, which organised the awareness campaigns, Claris Madhuku, said it was good for celebrities to encourage youths to register to vote.
