Dube (29) arrived in the country from Durban on Thursday night after falling out with Usuthu. He spent less than a season with the South African side.

The GameCox secretary Tavengwa Hara yesterday confirmed to NewsDay Sport that they had approached the former Bosso forward, who played in the US Major League Soccer (MLS) for New England Revolution and Chicago Fire before joining AmaZulu last year.

“We have spoken with Mkhokheli and we have made some offers, but we are still discussing,” Hara said.

The former Under-20 and Young Warriors striker played for Bosso before moving to the US in 2004. He played college football before he was drafted into the MLS.

Yesterday, he confirmed that he was no longer at AmaZulu, but could neither confirm nor deny that he was holding talks with Chicken Inn.

“I am no longer with AmaZulu. I received a letter terminating my contract and have been cleared by the South African side. I am home on holiday to be with my family and I am not through with playing my football yet. I am still weighing a number of options, but I cannot say where I am heading to for now. I still have issues to finish with AmaZulu,” Dube said.

Dube penned a three-year deal with AmaZulu under coach Roger Palmgren and indications are that he was not in new coach Craig Rosslee’s plans when he took over from Palmgren.

He became the second player to be shown the exit by AmaZulu after Liberian midfielder Dulee Johnson.

AmaZulu general manager Sean O’ Connor was quoted in the South African media confirming parting ways with Dube. He has also been in his former club, Highlanders’ radar.

“We have given him (Dube) the letter to terminate his contract with terms and conditions. We are waiting for him to read it and come back to us.”

If he joins Chicken Inn, he will fight for a place with a legion of strikers that include Thomas Chimenya, Tendai Ndoro, Leneance Mpofu, Tendai Mukambi and Evans Chikwaikwai.
