Chaos rocks Chimbetu show

THERE was chaos at Tryson Chimbetu’s show held at Las Vegas in Mufakose, Harare, on Friday as hundreds of fans pushed to get into the venue for free when the young musician went on stage.

The chaos lasted about 30 minutes forcing security personnel to close doors at the venue which was already packed. The fans blocked outside went rowdy after the young musician started performing his popular songs.

The police had to use force to calm the situation and arrested three fans who were banging the closed doors. Inside the venue, the musician played songs from his coming album titled Campus.

The songs include Ndondo, Bhora Mberi, Pahotera and Pfuti.

The musician got cheers from the fans after he announced the date of his album release.

“The new offering will be available on the streets on March 22.  On that day we will be commemorating the life of my father Naison with a big show in Harare,”

said Chimbetu. Speaking to NewsDay on the sidelines of the show, Chimbetu said he was humbled by the response he was getting from fans on his new songs.

“The response I am getting is overwhelming and I am happy that fans are enjoying the songs we are sampling during our live shows,” he said. Turning to his father’s commemoration, the Kumapako hit-maker said all artistes lined up had already confirmed their participation.

“The idea is we are going to charge an affordable fee for the gig and those who will turn up will get copies of the new album. Everything is in order because all artistes lined up for the show have confirmed their participation,” said Chimbetu.

He said musician Alick Macheso, his cousin Sulumani, Jah Prayzah and Peter Moyo were some of the artistes who had already confirmed their participation in the gig.
