The divorce was granted by High Court judge Justice Hlekani Mwayera on December 19 last year after the couple consented to the decision. Mbudzi’s wife filed the application in November accusing her husband of infidelity. “It is ordered that a decree of divorce be and is hereby granted and each party to maintain itself,” reads the order.

An application filed on her behalf by lawyer Marufu Mandevere read: “The marriage between the parties has broken down irretrievably and there are no prospects of the restoration of a normal marriage between them for the following reasons, the parties have not been living together since 2004, thus the parties have been separated for a period of almost seven years.

“The plaintiff (Glitters) has lost love and affection for the defendant. The defendant (Kudzai) committed adultery during the subsistence of the marriage with one Bethal Zvinorwadza. The defendant is violent and once assaulted the plaintiff.”

She also accused Mbudzi of being irresponsible. As part of their divorce settlement, Mudzi’s wife claimed an equal share of the couple’s assets namely motor vehicles and houses.
