The elections will be for the vice-chairman’s position as Sikhanyiso Moyo’s tenure and that of treasurer.

The majority of the candidates are seeking the post of vice-chairman.

Board member Luke Mnkandla, who heads the elections committee, yesterday said he would be announcing the names of candidates today after the verification process.

“Nominations closed yesterday (Saturday) and we will be doing the verification tomorrow (today) at 10 in the morning. Then after that I will give you the names of the candidates,” Mnkandla said.

However, sources said a Bosso member Charles Nondo — an accountant by profession who runs his own business in the city — could put Sibanda to the test after picking up nomination papers.

So far seven names have popped up for the vice-chairman’s post with incumbent Moyo gunning to retain the post under challenge from chairman of the Harare chapter of the Highlanders Supporters’ Association, Mgcini Sibhalo Mpofu and TPA Builders’ Merchants director Joel Mahlangu.

Also seeking the vice-chairman’s post is former committee member Wisdom Mabhena who last year lost his position to Charles “Six-One” Moyo.

Leroy Maplanka, who lost to Sikhanyiso in 2010, together with Faith Silandulo Dube, have also been touted to contest for the vice-chairman’s post with long time serving club marshal Frank Moyo and club member Nkosinathi Ncube.
