The awards ceremony will be held at How Mine Country Club.

How Mine won the ticket to the Premiership when they beat Black Boots 1-0 in Fairbridge on a day Bantu Rovers suffered a 1-0 shock home defeat to lowly Hwange-based Rufaro Rovers on November 24 last year.

On that day former Premiership side Bantu Rovers needed an outright win over Rufaro Rovers, who were bound to Division Two, and the Hwange side survived the chop which claimed another former top side Zimbabwe Saints.

How Mine chairman Mlondolozi Nkomo yesterday said the gold miners are looking forward to a great evening as they wind up their Division One campaign with awards ceremony before mapping the way forward for the 2013 Castle Lager Premiership season.

“We are just winding down on our Division One campaign with the awards ceremony. We are looking forward to a wonderful night and then we start the grinding mill and see what avenues to take in our preparations for the Premiership,” Nkomo said.

Seven awards are lined up for the evening and these are the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, Top Goalscorer, Most Consistent Player, Most Disciplined Player, Most Improved Player and Season’s Most Brilliant Moment.

All players registered for 2012 Division One season will receive medals, courtesy of Metallon Gold.

Emmanuel Silinda scored three minutes before full time against police side Black Boots and is likely to scoop the Season’s Most Brilliant Moment award as his goal saw the gold miners enter into top-flight action.

Some of the players at How Mine are goalkeeper Nonjabulo Dube, defenders Steven Chirwa, Nero Nhatikombo, Watch Mafa and Chris Biki.

The gold miners boast midfielders Donald Chiringa, Leo Rambai, Collin Mbewe, Samuel Nasitala, Dumiso Dungeni and Maxwell Hundi and strikers Stephen Sibanda, Simbarashe Sithole and Itai Kaseke.

Coaches Sheunesu Chaka and Jeremiah Makota are the men behind How Mine’s success story.Soon after winning the Division One championship, the latter said they could be acquiring a few players to boost the squad, but believed in the players that took them to the Premiership.

How Mine finished the season with 65 points from 32 games, while ZPC Hwange came second with 64 points. Bantu ended the season with 63 points in the tightly contested league.
