A source yesterday disclosed that the trial stint had been brokered by former Warriors defender Kaitano Tembo, who is the assistant coach at the Pretoria-based club.

“Amini left soon after the holidays together with Kaitano Tembo. He will be at SuperSport for a duration of two weeks,” said the source. Amini becomes a third Zimbabwean player to have tried his luck at SuperSport in two months.

Dynamos’ Patson Jaure and Tichaona Mabvura trained with the Gavin Hunt-coached club in December, but they were both told they were not good enough.

This will not be the first time the former Under-23 national team captain, Amini, has tried his lucky down South.

Last year, he was called for trials by Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, but failed to find the breakthrough.

If Amini passes the test this time around, he will become the first Zimbabwean to play for “Matsatsantsa” in recent years. His departure to South Africa adds to the growing list of local players who continue to be enticed by the power of the rand in the current transfer window.

Denver Mukamba, who was Amini’s teammate in the Young Warriors’ squad in 2011, has already penned a deal with Absa Premiership side Bidvest Wits University.

Soccer star second runner-up and Monomotapa star Ronald Chitiyo is currently being assessed by Orlando Pirates, while Ajax Cape Town have requested to have a look at the 21-year-old midfielder.

Dynamos striker Rodreck Mutuma is training with another Absa Premiership club Bloemfontein Celtic with a hope of clinching a deal. In the event that Mutuma fails to fit the bill at “Siwelele”, National First Divison side Dynamos could be his next destination.
