A NEW play that focuses on the need for different tribes to co-exist entitled Two Tribes is set to go on national tour. Report by Khulani Nkabinde Entertainment Reporter
Jeffery Sibanda who wrote, produced and directed the play told NewsDay Arts yesterday that officials at Amakhosi Cultural Centre were working on getting him a “professional director for the play before it goes on national tour”.
Two Tribes premiered at Amakhosi last week.
The play features a cast of seven. In the play, which is set in the 19th century, a Zulu lady falls in love with a Shangaan man.
Her elders are against her marriage to a man from a different tribe.
The issue gets complicated when Zulu warriors go after the Shangaan man and eventually kill his brother after mistaking him for their target.
Much to their surprise, the hunted man turns up proposing to marry the lady from their tribe and when they attack him, he fights back and wins.
It all ends well when the king accepts him into the tribe.

“The whole idea behind the play is that people from different tribes should live together in harmony. It is important that people unite,” said Sibanda.
The playwright is now working on his second play entitled Most Wanted.
