Mugabe made the remarks this week while passing judgment in a matter involving 11 men charged for touting.

All the 11 men — Nicholas Kaseke (30), Tendai Chishiri (35), Langton Chikarara (24), Simbarashe Desire Chidavaenzi (28), Fortune Mbiringano (19), Noah Matura (21), Canaan Mutasa (23), Justice Kabvundura (26), Wonder Jera (27), Gift Kasere (37) and Fedas Kunaka (23) — pleaded guilty to flouting traffic laws.

They were sentenced to 80 days’ imprisonment or alternatively pay $80 fine each.

The court heard that on January 2 this year and at different times, police officers were lawfully deployed to patrol Chinhoyi’s central business district and comb the areas around TM Supermarket, Zimpost, Karoi bus terminus, Alaska bus stop and Ministry of Transport pick-up point where the outlawed activity was rife.

The police officers arrested the 11 accused after they were found touting for passengers for various vehicles.

The State led with evidence from the arresting police officers.
